No. . .you'll need something that will go after the rust but not the metal.  Dupont makes a product, but it's acidic.  Go to Ultraone.com and order some concentrate.  You can mix it with water and make a gallon from a quart.

I got some advice about new solenoids being sold here in the Netherlands that look the part. I'll try both options though; I found some liquid stuff that only dissolves rust and does not contain acids and is solvable in water (HG rust remover), sounds the same as the Ultra One description.
