Repairable?   Or do I need a whole new starter?

For 45 Bucks, get the rebuilt High torque.  Not worth the trouble.  If you really wanna spash, I thnk a rebuilt Mini is like 80 bucks.
 
Yes they are repairable, but like I said above. . .
 
I'm surprised you didn't put a rebuilt in when you did the engine.  That's the 2nd time you had to go back under there

Still, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.  Engine runs as good if not better than any TNT that came from the factory.

It depends on how full your wallet is today. $10 for the bendix, $45 for a rebuilt, $145 for a new one.
