So I'm going to add that to Kaw Liga.  What wood should I use, Oak, Maple, Pine other?  Where it meets the trunk lid do I use bondo or wood putty our 50/50 mixture of each?    Ideas on welding or should I go with screws which opens up a whole new can of worms.

I know about those...they are great.  Biggest problem is the price!  Cool part is they are DOT legal and are good up to 45MPH!  They do great in snow\\mud\\ice etc...but not in rocks!  That rover would DEFINITELY FLOP on the rocks being that it has such a high COG.  Thing is...my Jeep wouldnt with those - I have enough room as I am now to fit those w/o adding any more lift. (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif)

Besides the wheelwells on those are so small that the tread assy couldnt rotate as it needs to.  That would be bad.

A guy - lawyer - in Downieville had the local mechanic install these on his Jeep.  The man said to the lawyer, "Buy a Snow-Cat instead.  You can afford it, and it won't roll over!  Your Jeep's center of gravity is too high."  The lawyer did not listen and insisted the man install these things.  I was there the day this happened.

I was also there the day the Jeep was towed into town a total loss.  The lawyer rolled it down the hill in front of his home just as the mechanic had said.

I agree with the mechanic: If you have the need for a Snow-Cat, buy a Snow-Cat.

Man, that was 20 years ago.  But, in looking at the pictures this morning I did notice the frame in the bottom picture.  So, if these are of two different types, I'd say the ones the lawyer bought were like the above picture.  I remember it was a kit where you swapped the Jeep tires with these tracks.  It did put the Jeep into the Stratusphere.

(Sorry Stan, no law-suit; every one in town knew the guy was a dope!  All he wanted to do was go between Highway 49 and his front door.  No problem in the summer, but once the snow fell the trees he had planted, and the natural pines and firs kept the sun away from his very long driveway.  He didn't want his wife to have to walk, or be in the cold on a snowmobile.  Guess what happened after he rolled the Jeep?

By the way, the town had a whopping 300 residents.)

Happy Thanksgiving to my Friends south of the border..
Here is a video of Palin pardoning a turkey from slaughter.
The (http://community.adn.com/adn/node/134739) funny thing is Palin was totally oblivious that the farm's slaughtering was going on behind her while being interviewed!!
Get the kids out of the room!! Or those who have a weak stomach!!

I $%#@ my pants when I checked closely on what looked like a lowly IH from the distance.
UP close, I discovered it was an ultra-rare Hendrickson twin screw, circa early - mid fifties.
I wanted to take it home!

I've seen this truck (prime mover) a few times in person.  When the refinery where my father worked needed a vessel moved they called Higgins Erectors and Big Henry!  He's a locomotive with a steering wheel!  AWESOME!

I saw on the history channel a few days ago, the B-52 was seen as a fear in Iraq, along witht he Wart Hog.  The A-  I forget

There's a bunch of '29s in that picture, but all the way on the right is a lone B-47; that's what I was refrencing.

The 47's carreer as America's first swept-wing jet bomber was longer than many other bombers, including the B-36, B-49, B-50, and the B-58.  It was a good plane at the right time.  The longevity if the B-52 can be traced to two historical events: the crashing of the XB-70 and the shooting down of Francis Gary Powers.

Even so, it remains a great weapons platform to this day - amazing!

I know what that is, although I;ve never seen a picture of one!  It's the five-bank motor Chrysler built in WWII to power tanks - many Shermans had this motor.

The Tankers didn't care for it much; it did not have the reliability of the Wright motor, but it didn't burn as easy either!

Biggest.Siren.Ever

A glimpse back at simpler times, when everything could be solved with huge sirens in every city - "..a
Chrysler Air Raid Siren, the most powerful siren in the world. It's the
size of a car, measuring near 12-feet in length and standing more than
6-feet tall. It also weighs twice as much as today's typical car. This
gigantic siren is powered by an 180-HP Chrysler Industrial V-8 HEMI
gasoline engine. The super-duty engine directly drives a three-stage
compressor that blows 2,610 cubic feet of air a minute, at nearly 7
PSI, into a giant siren rotor."

Yes, the Chaffee!  One of only two WWII-era tanks that were still being produced into the early 60's.

What's the other?

And, no, not the M-26.  As soon as it was upgraded and redisgnated M-47/M-48 it was no longer officially made.  The other tank was still made by it's WWII designation into the 60's, even though better variants were introduced and produced.

Peter Monteverdi was amaazing, I think it was an early Guigiaro
commisioned design. Some Monteverdis (Swiss made) had Chev engines too,
IIRC from reading the car mags back in the '60s... The only prettier
cars to my eye were the DeTomaso Mangusta (Mongoose) with it's 302 Ford
behind the back seat, or front V12 Lambo Miura of the same era (late
60s).

Must be because of my city drivingstyle, bumping forward those annoying 10mph roadzombies overhere that turn ME into an unintentional tailgater all the time... (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif)

I tried straightening it by jacking up the car at the bumper-bracket behind it. It did help some, as it was way worse before.
