Title: Exhaust manifolds interchange.

Dual exhaust is usually not a problem.  Not sure about a Y Pipe though

We just did a swap from an RB to a B motor and the duals went right up.  I would look to see if the Y Pipe is the same for a B and a RB first and go from there.  You might get lucky.

What motor is in it now?  I thought the 76 had a 440 already.  If it does, then you can use the same manifolds.

If you're ready when I get there, I'll help you pull it.

The angle the Y-pipe approaches the manifolds on a RB motor will be different than a B motor.....but as stated above if you have dual exhaust it shouls be no problem....only thing I can think of is on the dual exhaust system on a B motor if going to a RB you might have some clearance issues on the pipe on the drivers side were it tucks under the torsion bar....If going from BR to B then you would have more clearance.

I'll clear up some confusion here.
My 1976 New Yorker currently has a 440 in it.
The motor I'm rebuilding is also a 440.  Once it's finished, the built motor will be swapped in.

Yah.  I know.  When I pull the old motor, swap over the manifolds to the  new engine going in....

You have Lopo logs on there now?  And you want to upgrade to high flow manifolds?

If you get a set from the same era I can't see why they won't bolt  up to the Y-pipe.  Ma Mopar made things pretty generic so they should work.

Now there's a tough one.

Use the logs that are in there now!  WTBD???

Now why did you ask this? (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif) (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif) (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif) (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif)

No. No. No, youse guyz.  You've all missed my point.
I'll go through this one more time.  S - L - O - W - L - Y.  Watch my lips.

On the day of the engine swap, I want things to go as smoothly, simply, and quickly as possible.

< take a deep breath >

To make it that way, I want as many of the external components ALREADY ON THE NEW ENGINE.

< you with me ? >

AND I want the same components as I have IN THE CAR NOW so as to do the swap without messing around with adapting to what I have.

< who have I lost at this point? >

Example:
If the exact same exhaust manifolds that I have in the car now, are already on the new motor, I can simply pull the old motor, drop in the new motor, and hook it up to my exhaust system w/o any fabricating.

< you still here> >

Now, you'll say: "use the manifolds that are in the car now".
Well, I can.
But I tried to make it it even simpler.

And that's where I lost you guys!!! (http://www.massmopar.com/yabb/Smilies/banghead.gif)

At this point, Stan has decided to use the stock exhaust logs, turned upside down and piped directly into the driver's compartment.......
