Title: Wagon owners...fuel tanks
Post by: Brian on July 29, 2008, 05:04:14 PM
I did find out the hard way though that with wagons you DO NOT top up/over fill the tank....I did this the first full tank I put into the car and I had fuel leaking out the over flow/vent tube, had to siphon off a couple gallons. After this happened I remembered a chrysler memo posted by AlaskanT/A about this very thing!

Brian, when you are calculating your MPG,are you converting litres to US gallons??? or Imperial gallons??
In Canada ,IIRC,we are supposedly referring to Imperial gallons.
There is a difference.
It is possible why your gumbers are not matching up.

No I'm calculating using the 4.1L to 1 US gallon since that is where the car was built and they most likely used the US gallon measure.

So 70 litres works out to 17 gallons...and I probably had a gallong or so left in the tank.

Guess I'll have to fill a jerry cana dn just drive till she dies to see how much she'll take.(http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif)

the US gallon is equal to 3.785 litres  while the Imp is equal to 4.54 litres  This can account for a large variation in quanties.
