Title: Valve cover design

I have a 1963 Chrysler New Yorker, and it has separate brackets that bolt to the engine under the valve cover bolts to hold the spark plug wires.  I have also seen some 1963 Chrysler New Yorker's with the 413 engine that have the spark plug wire holders welded to the valve covers.  Which is correct for 1963 Chrysler New Yorker with the 413 engine?  In its short life, it has had a few parts replaced with parts from other years.  I just don't know what is correct any longer.... thanks Junk...

My completely original 361 big block 1962 Newport uses the bolt on wire looms and 4 bolt, crankcase downtube style covers. I have a set of the welded loom covers which I think are 6 bolt....not sure which car they are off of. My 1965 413 has a different type of wire looming with PCV valve covers.

Bob, '62 is a bad year to use as a comparison, as the covers were changed from 4 holes to 6 in mid-year.  The spark plug wires will mount diferently on those motors depending on early vs. late.
 
Junk, even with what I said above, the location of the wire holders will depend on where the car was manufactured.  Some used one style, others another.  I would say, look at several examples (if you have any) and go with what you like.

IIRC, it depends of the car was factory equipped with A/C or not.
Some HP motors had different valve covers as well.

With 11,000 pictures on the main site, there are only 2 pictures of 1963 Chrysler's and neither of them are big enough to answer my question.  Sorry to be a bother to you, so I guess that I will just take myself to one of the other Mopar Sites that appreciates people that are tying to keep these cars as original as possible.  I would expect that I might get this type of reply from another member, but not from the "Head Kahoona" Administrator.  It must be a "Jorsey" thing.   Also, it is KAHUNA  not Kahoona.... must be a Jorsey spelling...
