Title: Rear main seal removal...again
Post by: Brian on May 23, 2008, 05:15:55 PM
I'm trying to get the upper seal out of the 440 and she won't budge...any ideas how to get it out??

I have a long wood screw screwed into the seal and a pair of vise grips on the screw and I'm trying to pull while rotating the motor but it won't move.  I've sprayed lube by the seal and turned the crank to try and make it slippery to pull out but it still won't move.

Help!

I just got the seal out...since I had the motor out and on a stand I decided to do just that...loosen all the main cap bolts and give the crank a week buit of a lift on the rear to take the pressure off the seal...slipped right out.  !thumb
