AZ Black Hemi doesn't have one for me.

I have found some tnaks, but need to know if I need to order with no vents, 2 vents or 4 vents?
What are the vents for?  Do they hook up to anything?  What if I don't order the right tank?

Thanks!
J

Ahhh

Vapor recovery and so on.  Anti roll over, stuff like that.

If you have a vapor separator in front of your gas tank, you need a four vent (4).  If you don't, I suggest a 2 and plug the other if not needed.  In 68, I don't think they had the vapor recovery or the canister.  In that case, I think you only need one. They did have a vent line going from the back of the tank into the trunk.  I don't know if California was different or not.  68 was a funny year for emmissions

My best suggest is take a look.  At least you have something to work with now.  You'll know what to look for.

I have a good used tank that has been treated inside and out.It has a few dents in it from when the springs went through the trunk.LOL
The car was running when I bought it.I had to drain out a good half tank of gas out of it.
As for new tanks,Spectra Premium makes them. They can be pricey but worth it.
CR20A with no vents
CR20B with 2 vents (Most common for 68 Chrysler)
CR20C with 4 vents (more or less for cars with smog equipment 72-73)
A couple of large U.S. autoparts stores carry SPI Napa,Rockauto,or O'Rielly's.I think...

All '68 Chryslers I have (and had) were 2 vents.
Used tank:

Thanks, you guys are awesome.

So, I guess the question is, if I order one wiht no vents, what's the harm?

The harm is your tank, or some part of the fuel line system, will collapse in upon itself due to the vacuum created/low pressure vs outside pressure.  Find out how many vents your tank has so you can get the right one.

As mentioned '68 Chryslers came with two vents, and also must use a vented gas cap.
One vent is clipped to the frame crossmember next to the left rear shock, and the other vent goes into the trunk and back down out of it again.Hope this pic from my FSM helps.

Yeah that's what I was talking about. . I couldn't remember.

Moe, Vacuum is not pressure.  More than likely, the tank would get vacuum bound and the car would just stop running.  Vented caps are not enough

If your car has the "CAP" (cleaner air package) you will have a four-vent tank.  The green and white sticker was usually on the RH inner fender.  Look under the spare tire for a steel line running across the trunk floor, if it's there you have "CAP" and a four-venter.  Both of my '68s had "CAP".
