Title: Air Breather
Post by: Jason Goldsack on May 21, 2011, 03:39:48 PM

I was near a Wrecking yard so I stopped in and for $20 I got an air breather off a V6 Dakota..

Until I can come up with some tubes that will get it closer to colder air I thought I'd try this..

I think it looks pretty neat and the air breather doesn't get heat soaked like the steel one did in the heat...

Well that is just about as cool as you can get. Good find.

I got the idea from you Polaraco.... a little trimming and it was a bolt on.. I suggest everyone grab one..

The K&N was on my Neon years ago... just happened to fit..

I tried to bend some PVC pipe that I was gonna paint to get some colder air but it just kinked... :(

I took her for a drive and it likes this Air Breather WAY better..... Maybe the other one was too restrictive or something..

BTW... I checked the timing and I'm at 15 initial.. is that a good start?

That's a little bit on the high side. When she is warm, does she "rrrt. rrrt, rrrt", or "r, r, r, r,"?

Extra initial timing always runs better without a load, but gas mileage suffers on the top end whether or not she pings.

Actually it runs really good...

I've noticed since I put in the crossover pipe and this air breather.. the car pulls harder from 2500 to 3500 when I'm passing... I was quite surprised today with it..
