General Tech / Serpentine belt retro
« on: February 06, 2015, 04:12:01 AM »
Anyone attempt to put a serpentine belt on an old bigblock yet?  Other than the aftermarket companies that is.  I'm looking for advice for factory parts from later vehicles.

At some point in the future here I'll be converting to MPI and then I expect AC from the RV to sanden.  I figure if I'm going to modern up the car that much I may as well keep going and get a modern belt system too.

General Mopar Discussions / Anyone ever ship glass?
« on: May 30, 2013, 10:29:16 AM »
I've gotten myself in a bit of a spot and need to have some glass shipped.  What's the best way to go about it?  It's an 8 hour one way trip for me one way, and rather than drive I'm contemplating asking the gentleman to ship.  I know he can't pack the glass so how would you do it? Windshield and backlight.

8 hrs one way is too long for a round trip day I think.  And hotel eats up a lot of my savings.

General Mopar Discussions / Finding inspiration

So I've been spending time at non-automotive per se forums and finding inspiration.  My favorite forum du jour is Metalmeet.  These guys have got some awesome skills for forming sheet metal.

Tech- - Engine / Broken dipstick tube
« on: February 07, 2012, 03:20:44 PM »
Anyone have any suggestions about removing a broken dipstick tube from a 440 that's presently in the vehicle?   Yes it happened during the header swap, no it appears it was broken before the headers were being installed.  When I unbolted the tube it just kind of fell over.  I thought it was odd at the time, but when I got around to looking at it, I realized there was more of it left in the block, clean at the opening in the block.

General BS and Laughs / Are they worth saving?
« on: February 07, 2012, 03:10:22 PM »

I finally got the manifolds off.  The headers went in ok and I currently don't have any clearance issues so I'm a happy camper.  However I have a question.  Are these manifolds worth saving?  How about the factory head pipes?  The manifolds are cracked the passenger is bad enough to have a hole, and the crack runs into the flange.  The head pipes are real bad as well but I think perhaps they might have some value as a template to someone actually doing a real restoration.  Ideas, opinions?

Ok, so I'm ready to put the backlight in but I have a problem.  I'm missing the rubber spacers.  Anyone have a work around?  Or a place to buy them?

General BS and Laughs / Need a brochure?

Came across this today.  Sorry if it's repost..

On the metal trim there appears to be a clear coat of some sort.  I used some interior cleaner on it before we moved and it discolored the bare metal areas, black stayed black but now there's a yellow tint to the silver areas.
I figure I'm going to have to do the whole thing so any good tips for stripping the trim and refinishing.  Also need some tips for the black as I assume that's going to have to be redone too.

UPHOLSERY HOW TOO's / Interior fiberglass panels

On the Monaco they're black, not in bad shape but could be better.  Anyone have an idea of what paint could be used to bring them back to life?
