Title: Chipmunks - no, not the movie
Post by: Mark on May 09, 2008, 10:00:16 AM
I am overrun with chipmunks. They are undermining my front porch, driveway and basement steps.... Mouse/rat poison seems to have no affect. Any suggestions?  reasonable ones, that is.....

Moth balls work on mice. . .  I tried that several years ago.  I just spread several boxes around the property paremeters.  Now that I think of it, I haven't seen a chipmunk since.

Shot guns work well too. (http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif)

We don't have a chipmunk problem, squirls here.  DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT BRINGING THEM HERE.

I could send you some rattlesnakes. They eat Chipmunks.

My brother had a lot of success with a Gamo air gun, lazer and scope mounted removing fruit rats from his yard.    He said the night time was the right time to hunt.

OR...  You could ask this guy fer advice

Why not enlist a stealthy cat?

I wouldn't go the shotgun route, too noisy and the nieghbors may complain.  A silenced .017x.223 Remington will do the job quietly, and improve yer marksmanship!

Seriously...  Dad had a chipmunk problem and he used Hav-A-Hart traps with great success.  He released his quarry a few miles from home in a wooded area and they were gone and unharmed (and couldn't find thier way back!  That's when the Remington was coming out...))

I have a bb gun that is almost dead on, but then I'd probably be putting windows in the camper and the Shelby.  Snakes....hmmmm....  no thanks, I want to keep my wife around....(http://www.moparfins.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif)....   One of my guys at work mentioned the Have-a-Hart thing...y'all r just too dern nice!  We have squirrels as well, but the neighbors feed them, so they stay out of my way. Oh, and the cat - nah, the only good cat is a dead cat around my house - can't stand 'em.

Piss all over your front yard and porch.  That's what wolves do, and they have no problem with Alvin and the Gang!

This is the pepper/mace combo that I have been using...just spread it around and it stands up to rain, etc for a while.

I still go back to the shot gun, rocking chair, a straw hat and sitting on the porch.  Scatter enough of them around and they won't want too.

I could send the "Load" down there.  She'll just sit on them and that will cover that problem.  She's big enough for at least 5 or 6 at a sitting.

"Load"...  She's purrty Steve!  I have always loved cats.  Shemp hates other dogs but he endowels cats...  I think that in his mind he IS one!
