California to require smog on pre-76 cars
« on: March 25, 2008, 04:08:42 PM »

I put this in the "BS" section because that's where it belongs......the California legislature is proposing a bill that would require smog controls on all pre-1976 cars........of course, most don't have them, so 'THE OWNER'S WOULD HAVE TO ADD THEM"..........can you imagine adding smog controls to a 1968 Hemi GTX.....???   these bum politicians need their heads examined, or removed from their rectums, whichever comes first.........if these dunces would spend their time doing something useful, instead of interfering with decent taxpaying citizens, maybe we'd have a nice place to live.......but, we have criminals running the streets while these fulkin' ash holes are worried about a 40 year car polluting their air.........unbelievable.........I don't even have the words to denounce these idiots......can somebody send me some choice ones to use when I write a letter to these flockin' clowns?

Thats F-in BS do me a favor Steve, when you write your letter tell
those jackasses to do the world a favor and pull their lips over theirs
heads and swallow. Those s*&^heads should not be wasting tax payers
money on stoooooooopid issues like that, let the citizens enjoy their
hobby. Is that even constitutional? someone has got to knock some sence
into these damned hippies

Isn't it obvious that betwwen the price of gas and the rarity of these classic cars they are driven so few miles that their effect on the enviorment is nothing. Al Gores ass&^%le and his mouth pollute way more.

MMMMMMM

I wonder what they want installed.  If it's a catalytic converter, kis the carpets goodbye.

With such a small percentage of those cars running the streets out there, I am amazed.

Now that you mentioned it, I have been looking for a place to install a couple of cats on Polaraco.  Just in case this lunitic we have here decides to do something stupid like that.

Register it in Arazona.  Chris needs a Hurst

95% of older vehicles that are on the road are much more better maintained that some daily drivers' car out there. These cars are not beaters-they are classic car enthusiasts.
Owners of the older stuff regard them as classics and are treated, enjoyed, and  repaired as such. They do not get the same amount of miles on them compared to the family mini-van
Today with better igniton conversion kits, better carburetors and exhaust, and radial tires some get better MPG than a brand new truck!!
End result is better maitenance, less miles driven equals less pollution compared to when they were new 30-40 years ago.

SEMA and the other car hobby lobbyists will shut that down. If they fail, it's up to the voters to get rid of anyone who proposes these dum-bass laws.

In a similar note, Mexico has banned the importing of used cars unless they are from 1998. No 1997 or 1999's.....just 10 years old are allowed in, creating a big demand for 1998 vintage cars down there. Seems the car dealers are mad that sales of old jalopys from the US are cutting into their new-car sales (like Mexicans have a lot of pesos for new cars) and they consider the jalopys to be polluting and not fuel efficient.
If Mexico can pass a dum-bass law like that, with new car dealers paying off the politicos to do it, then we have to act fast before our friggin Kennedys and Clintons do the same thing.....

Bob
You may remember about 10 years ago when New Jersey was going to ban any old cars.  I forget what the criteria was, but they were going to just take away the "Gas Guzzlers" completely.  If I remember right, it included everything including Modal T's and street rods.

That was squashed real quick.

These ignorn Politicians have no idea what a cat could do to an old engine.

if it passes, you'll see a fire sale of yer favorite cars from the Central Valley here.......due to us being in a bowl with mountains all around, the air stagnates like a politician's breath.......that's why these imbeciles want to pass it........LA and San Fran-sicko would be exempt because they have plenty of fresh ocean air blowing up their skirts.......

Pretty friendly here.....no smog inspections,   I have Collector plates on both cars so my Property tax is a lesser rate & you only pay 60.00 once for them.    Paid less than 10.00 for 2 cars this past year in property tax.

It's nice living out away from high-population areas.   You can have em'!
