Lightweight wheels reduce unsprung weight-giving better ride, fuel economy, and handling.
I did notice the difference almost right away when I switched from steelies to the ten spokers I have on now.
23575R15 on 7" rims are perfect-Fill out real nice.Fuseys and Formals can pull that size off real easy .
Remember that the '93 Ram you raped  was outfitted with that size and should bring back the proper speedo reading and match up with the rear gear ratio.
HWY MPG should increase by 2%.
As for the tire brand,I tend to be biased (pun intended! LOL)
To be honest with you-in my experience, any cheap whitewall tire in the 2357515 will ride nice on a heavy C.
High mileage tires tend to harden up after a while and give a harsh ride.
I had Goodyear Regatta 2's on my '78 NYB 2-door  and they were worse than the el cheapo Predators that were on the car before that.I jammed a set of cheap Kelly tires on there and the car rode better than ever.
Also most passenger tires nowadays have a fancy sidewall design that does not look right on an older cars.
Wobble Mart,Pep Boys tires will have a plain sidewall with the 1" whitewall.
Plus going from 225 to 235 will actually give you a smoother ride-regardless of tire make and quality.
Uniroyal Tiger Paws worked great on the '77 Newport I had as well. That thing was an unstoppable tank..
You had many more cars in the past than I have ,so you can be your own judge in taste in tire brands.

Thanks Lea

That was fast.

So you suggest a Walmart Tire, or R & S Strause.  Interesting.  The ones I have on there now are nice, I forget the maker, but it's a familiar name.  Not a Good Yich popularity name.  I want to sat Pirerrlli.  Without going out to look, I don't remember.

You're talking about the side walls.  What are the differences?  Is the difference a concern?

I know the Virgin rides so much better than the Polaraco.  The Virgin has elcheapo's on it

Thanks Lea
Just for looks more than anything else. All of the popular large makes have a modern serrated pattern molded on the sidewall.
They do look fancy but do not look correct for an older car.
Just looks too busy with a whitewall,IMHO
Look for a whitewall tire that has no fancy sidewall pattern on it.

I'd go to your shop, but I don't think they's take too kindly to wheels and tires coming back over the border

I thought you were saying the construction was different.  That's why they ride different.

I've been trying to come up with something but I think the road wheels look best.  Finding another set might prove interesting.  The last set I saw at a swap meet sold to a friend of mine for $250 with rings and caps.

I thought my Polara looked nice with body-colored wheels, two-step dog dishes and raised white letters, but I don't think that combo would work on a fusey.

Mine looked kinda like this, but had a LH A-pillar Unity spotlight and was a hard top.

Bob

Those aren't crap tires on Polaraco now.  I'll find a home for them someplace.

Matt. . . I dunno what I'm going to do now.  I got this email from the people Leaburn suggested ..  .

I am trying to improve the track at the same time.  The Aluminum wheels I showed in the beginning are 4"  If I could find something  in 3 1/2 to 3 3/4, that would be perfect.

I asked them about  Rally Wheels in stead.  Maybe they have something not as deep.  I'm trying to widen the track

Steve how about the 5th wheels and a set of BF Goodrich radial TA's.
I'm not a big fan of white wall tires, but, do like raised white letters.

There's a link to an eGay car that looks just like mine with RWL and cop caps.  The look isn't what I was trying to accomplish.  I want something I can pull up to the Ritz Hotel with and make the Beamers look like slum cars.  (Well they are already, but tell that to the owners)

You're over looking the fact I want to widen the track an inch or two  also.  These are apparently 4 1/6 offset and the 5th Aluminum are 4 1/2.  So the track would be 1/2 + narrower.

They only have an 8 1/2 and a 10" wide Western.  So It's going to have to be the 2nd choice, the American Racing Vector.
