It is almost done.  I need to spend an hour in the fender well joining the two inners together half way up.  Have to take the wheel off.

I was amazed to find this car is all out of whack.  The new qyarter I got from Moores was rust free with some damage on it..  But the inner pieces were all bent.  When it came to aligning everything, it took a bit of creativity.  That and I was putting a 2 Door hard top 1/4 on a vert.  If it were a fast back, I would have had a better chance.  I took a chance and ran a bead across the top, alittle at a time.  Since I discovered body cracks in the rear upper sill, I figured I better make it as tight as I can.  All the pop rivits are gone now.

Nice and straight

Joining the 2 Door 1/4 to the vert.  This little stretch was the most difficult.  The rear shelf is real short on the Vert and real long on the new panel.

Doesn't look bad and is solid as a rock.  Yeah Baby

Now I get to turn the car around and do the other side.

Yep!

Next weekend Bobby and I are going to turn the car around so I can skin the other side with a new panel I got.  Then I will fix the few holes in the floors inside and repair the holes in the trunk I found.

I'll be doing the Leanburn scraping routine underneith before I park it to get my other projects out of the way.  I have to swap the engine in the 59 for the 413, strip a 5th and head gaskets on the other 5th.  Then the 59 will be put up for sale

OK  You saw the left rear.  It actually came out better than the right.  The replacement panel I got doesn't fit right so I have to work it.

Before

The rest wasn't that bad, but the 1/4 is loaded with bondo as you saw above

Here is the panel just screwed on.  I still have to mess with it and get the main line flatter.  Other wise it's fit pretty goos.  I have to trim the edges.  However I wrote to the guy and he told me I may have the wrong panel.  I don't think so, but I will check anyway.  Sometimes it pays to complain.

That panel looks like the type that is punched out from that Canadian company.  Is that where it came from?
I got one of those Canadian panels once.  The first two were for the wrong car until they finally shipped the right one on the third try.  PITA returning the first two (FedEx and UPS do NOT like those oversized shipments).

Like yours, the panel was only an aproximation of the original.  I found the problem to be in that they simply take flat panels and put creases in them using a brake.  You get into problems when trying to match to the compund curvatures  of the stamped originals.
If you line up the creases and tack on the new panel, the new panel won't conform to the curvatures of the body.

But then again, if it's all that you have to work with, it's better than nothing.

Jeeez, those Barracuda/Challenger guys don't know how easy they've got it.

OK  Tomorrow its the big day.   I have since fixed a few more things and coated it with Ospho and then a good healthy dose of epoxy primer.  Tomorrow, all I have to do is hang the new 1/4 piece and weld it.  Found a few surpirses in the trunk I'll deal with.  I think I will cheat.
