I remember a few of my customers having issues with PPG paint that was custom mixed for them by me and my CarQuest co-horts back in that day.  One guy was spraying in a semi-humid enviroment and had a horrible result.  I mixed another two quarts of the same paint and suggested he lighten-up just a wee bit on the reducer if the atmospheric conditions were the same.  The finish came out just fine that time.

Most of the paint issues came from those who sprayed the el-cheepo PPG Omni.  The better DBC and DCC, if mixed properly, usually laid down just fine.  DuPont is an excellent paint, pricey but excellent.

Leanburn's method is a LOT cheeper.

These new HVLP guns are great.  I couldn't get that paint to run if I tried.  Same with the clear.  I haven't looked close today, but it laid down real nice.

Good idea!  That way you can schedule the maiden voyage on VOAB's 50th birthday

I have a long way to go before that Lea.  But the worst of it is over.  I have a few small patches in the rear floors to do and a bit of buttoning up on the LR 1/4. strip and prime.

I do too.  But I am leaving it drums.  I am getting Snotty's 11 X 3 inch drum set up for the front.   That should help with the 440.  Besides, these drums look pretty thin by eyeball.  I would need to find better drums for it

This was today.  I haven't worked on the VOAB since over a week ago.

Painted the frame last night with POR15

Got a little fancy with the fasteners.  Soaked them in Ultra One and they came out like brand new.  That's a strut rod on the right.  Painted it with etching primer and then a coat of the cast iron paint.  All the fasteners got painted with Etching and Iron Paint.  The bushing washers in the back got etching primer and some "Almost Chrome" from Eastwood.  I painted them so they would not rust again.  But the U1 had them bright and shiny anyway.

This is what the control arms looked like before U1

After U1.  I didn't dry them off right away so they have a little rust on them already.  The top one came out of Polaraco.  I normally rebuild them before hand, but these haven't been done yet.  I keep spares.  But I used the spares I did over the winter in Polaraco this spring.

What started as a couple of small holes, ended up to be a project.  I finished the floor after the pictures.  Nice and stiff.  I need to find my greenlee dies and put the plugs back in.

Finally, the upper control arms.  They were soaked in Ultra One also, Etch Primed and painted with Rustolium.  They're back on the frame now.  Tomorrow, I'll rebuild the right lower and install it.  When all that is done, I'll do the right.  I can't put it in yet because the RF Strut Rod is bent.  I am waiting for another one.

It's coming together nicely...how did the Rustoleum dry?  I stopped using it because it seemed to be a thin spray paint and i could never seem to get a smooth finish - plus it seemed to take forever to dry (compared to krylon).
