I've always liked body work better than mechanical work... the rule of thumb I use for hardener (I use CUZ bondo) is a golf ball sized lump of putty to about the diameter of the lump's worth of hardener in a straight line, about 1 1/2" I guess. Usually works pretty well. I like it to start setting up within 3-4 minutes.  sounds like you have a good instructor  there Lea!

I wish I thought of it sooner to turn you on to the primer I'm now using. It's both an Epoxy direct to metal and very high build with absolutely no shrinkage. has saved me a lot of time and money by making the whole priming thing one step. It was developed by a local Hot rod builder out here. I resisted trying it for a long time because I thought it was too good to be true, one primer that had excellent adhesion to bare metal and great filling quality's. Well now I'm kicking myself in the butt for not using it sooner.

I don't blame him for not wanting to switch in the middle of a job but he should give it a try on the next one. Saves a lot of time and money.

Looks good. Gives one the perspective of why body work and paint jobs are not cheap. Thanks for walking us through this whole process you are going through, eye-opening to say the least.

I hate to bring up this sore point.  I know you get annoyed when I bring it up, but I need to as this anyway.  It's been a long time and I am delibrately making you read to get to the point.  Is it done yet?  LOL

Body & paint work is easy... it's the doing it well part that's hard!
I've done quite a bit and never satisfied with how it comes out.
I have a great deal of respect for those who are good.
Takes years of experience and hard earned knowledge.
Chris for sure, and looks like Tom's in that category too.
