Taking other members advise,I will replace the upper ball joint with the control arm installed.Just have to wait for the new one to show up.
The steering knuckle cleaned up really well.
Luckily, the foam gasket is in excellent condition.it came off in one piece and will get re-used.

You missed a spot.

Do yourself a favor.  Get a few cans of that eastwood frame rust converter/sealer and spray the crap outa that subframe and your box frame.

That has to be one of the best products ever made by them.  I'll take you up to the 68 so you can see it

When I did my lower control arm bushings I got the outer shells out with a hacksaw blade.  Just cut down the middle, took about 15 minutes, and then when it was almost through gave the shell a tap with a small chisel and it split down the cut and curled inwards and out it slid.

Funny Lea, you and I are doing front ends at the same time.  I mentioned in a previous post that I'm converting the '68 Ny'er to disc brakes. I decided to replace the entire front end at the same time.  I have a friend that works for the railroad and he took the arms to work and pressed the busings for me there.  Nice to have a big press.  Pics soon.

Hey Lea or Fearless Leader, either one of you have a spare set of splash shields from your slab cars?

Been having too much fun with the Waygun lately.
It is being used as a parts chaser for sure,LOL!!

I finally got a good pair of strut rods from Jack Forkey today!! FOR FREE!!
So this week or the next I hope to finish the front end.
Plus I picked up some more trim for the waygun.
Oh and a booster for Johnn66NY

So cheap,I cannot reveal the price!!
I had to cross the border to get it,but that even saved me more money in shipping.
The plastic gear on the volume button was stripped, and the selector buttonss were stuck.
So,I tore it apart and fixed it.
Luckily,I had a spare AM radio that does not work, but the thumbwheel buttons are the same as the AM/FM--at least on the left anyways.
While it was opened up,I used contact cleaner and Q tips and cleaned up as much as I could.
I removed the face plate and dial lense and cleaned them too.

These radios are very hard to find--in any condition.
She was rough, but now looks great.
Does it work?
I will find out this weekend.

Lea  FYI

Rustoleum makes an irredecent orange that is almost exactly the color of those pointers.  Bet you didn't notice that in Polaraco, It's that close.
