So that's why the wreck happened...

The motor is now in.
Had a old woman of a time to get anything to line up properly.
The trans crossmember was not fun.
It is amazing how much pressure the torsion bars put ton the anchors to the point where I had to jack the crossmember into place almost lifting the car off the floor.

The new Schumacher motor mounts needed some tweaking to fit--especially the left side.
I had to remove the mount and bracket AFTER I dropped the engine in place.
Not impressed especially dropping serious coin on them.
The biscuit had to be twisted by 1/8 an inch to get the bolt through. That required grinding off the nub off the biscuit to twist it to fit.
One ear was bottoming out against the frame,so it too had to be ground down to allow the mount to rest onto the frame.
I did a test fit with the engine hoist taking the wieght as I checked the fit numerous times before bolting it in for good.
With the engione resting on the frame the bolts would not go through. With a little help with the hoist, they went in.

Tow casualties.
I burnt my arm on my trouble light, now I got water blisters there.
Secondly,I scratched  the firewall dropping in the motor.
No big whoop.
Cat can lick my wounds, and I can touch up the firewall.

Granted some are easier than others, most of what I just read sounds like normal stuff, including the firewall dent. Heck, if you don't get at least one of those per car with an engine install, you just aren't trying hard enough!

All kidding aside, she looks great........and what Steve said.

When I have a fresh paint job, I throw towels over the back of the motor

How the heck did you scratch the firewall.. you put the engine straight in?

I like that colour if I pull my 361 I think it is gonna be blue when it goes back in.. I could care less if it's correct.. it is just a great looking colour..

A link of chain was poking out and hit the firewall when I was pushing it in.

Then you better get your eyes checked.....

Anyway...looking Good Leaburn.

Sorry to hear that those schumacher mounts didn't go in as easily as they should.  When I dropped the 440 into the wagon and it was resting full weight...the bolts slid in and I was able to tighten them with my fingers!!  This was the only car that has ever happened on.  Usually it's bars, jacks, loosen and tighten bolts...etc.
