Happy epiphany on Monday? I had one of those a couple months ago, best thing I ever did.

It's actually a special day on Monday? Wow, will have to look into that!

Thanks, and Happy Epiphany to you, too!

Ha!!

Yes, Epiphany, celebrated more in Europe, is the remembrance of the Wise Men's visit to the baby Jesus.  It is celebrated on January 6, after the 12 Days of Christmas.  And now you know... the rest of the story!

I talked with a  woman over Christmas who was raised in Austria.  Her tradition was to put up the tree on Christmas Eve an take it down after Epiphany.  During those 12 days you were to give gifts to any who visited your home.  I keep my trees up until Jan. 6.  It's fun!

That is wonderful to hear, a first for everything. Thanks for sharing, just might have to make it a new tradition.

Amen!!!  I lived in Downieville, CA, in Sierra County, for 4 years.  It was rare for people to take anything down before Jan. 6 there.  I loved it!!  Moved to Bakersfield with its traditions greatly influenced by people from Southern US Sates, and I was often the only one on my block with my lights still lit on New Year's Day.  In Chico I am one of four on my block that kept them lit through Epiphany.  Yes, I miss Downieville!

Another NY-funny: the Scots have 2 days off as bank holiday for their NY-celebrations (and recovering from the aftermath)

(seems I spent my recent holiday in the wrong part of the UK, although Wales was superb, and full of extremely friendly people)

Happy New Year to you all! Cheers!

And welcome to San Diego, where Christmas lights can stay up all year long,  and are lit all the way through July on many houses! Like they say, Christmas in July, it isn't just a dream, it is a reality around here!
