Pcked Up A New Driver
« on: September 24, 2012, 05:53:09 PM »

I picked up a 66 New Yorker 4dr ht from a friend of mine. It was his dad's who passed away recently. He was a lifelong Chrysler Dealership technician and was an excellent mechanic. He had everything dialed in just right on this car. It runs great and drives real tight. It's loaded with options like power windows, tilt and tele, a/c and AM/FM. I'm going to paint it and drive it. Here's some pictures I took as it was getting dark last night.

Great find Chris!! Looks like a keeper. The 65 and 66s are some of the most classic big Chryslers, no doubt, congrats!

My parent's '65 Newport was just about that same color - was a 4-door HT too.  Nice!

I had a 66 Newpie I drove back and forth to Jersey City every day.  280K and it was almost as nice as Az's.  It thrans got so bad I would start it in the morning, let it idle and warm up until the car went against the curb stone.  The front pump was shot.

Had a free day today and had some white paint in my paint cabinet so I painted the roof on my New Yorker. Decided to do away with the vinyl on the "C" pillars and just paint it. If I can make time during the week to sand it I'll shoot the green next weekend. Here's the pictures.

Yeah, but which "green" are we talking about? There are some very nice ones, and some not so nice ones, to choose from.

I'm keeping it the original light green metallic so I don't have to paint the door jambs and engine bay. I know alot of guys don't like green but all fresh new and shiny it'll look good. I'm not trying to make a 100 point show car, just a driver.

No, that's fine, and I can definitely understand that as a way to get a good looking fresh paint job on the outside and the jambs looking good, or at least matching, so good choice of green.

Green is a great color for big Chryslers... and it seems like most of them came that way!
