That's just not right!!!
« on: May 26, 2012, 02:26:08 PM »

On Saturday. May 19, after I got my Newport running again Jerry and I attended a "Celebrate Recovery" Event where my church's Men's Fellowship was cooking the breakfast.  (We made the pancakes!)  Since I was staying longer we both drove alone, me in the Newp and Jerry in his Gremlin.

But which one has the better rumble. That's what gets them every time. Cars that purr get no respect. Then again they don't attract as many tickets either.

Big and beautiful cars should have several people in them, and are driven by "matured" people unless it is a patina'd low rider with airbags and dingle balls in the windows. Sorry to stereotype and all, but the big cars were not made to be impressive, they were made to look impressive and haul. The Gremlin on the other hand was built to get from point A to point B as cheap as possible and usually the second or third sale was usually when it was made into a kick some rear littel rocket, which is kind of impressive.

I like sleepers.  a 5000 pound Vert blowing away some of these new cars is impressive.

Saw this one at one of my restaurant deliveries in Kamloops.  Old couple driving it.  Funny a group of young guys in a newer cafr were listening to some god awfull music when I came out to snap these pics.  They started asking some questions about it...so I answered them.  They were blown away by the car...it's age, condition and motor/tranny/rear wheel drive etc.

That's a nice looking Pacer!  Did you point out to them the differences in the two doors?  (Do you know?)

Stevo is right.  The passenger side door was two inches longer in order for passenger entrance to be easier.

Can't tell you how many times people have gone up to Jerry and said that concerning his Grem.  He simply replies, "That was the Pacer."  People go, "Well, isn't that car a Pacer?"
Sheesh!

" Chryslers being slammed"... for their drivers being old fogies?

Fact:  back in the '70s one of the big Detroit ad agencies did a marketing study and found that demographically THE oldest cohort of ALL drivers were CHRYSLER owners... not Cadillac, not Lincoln, not even Rolls Royce...  so get out the Rogaine, Grecian Formula, and blue hair tint!... just sayin!  Whereas Plymouths appealed to the young, not the "young at heart"! ;-)
