stock Mopar wheel swap FL 14 -> 15?
« on: March 25, 2012, 06:56:40 AM »

Is there any stock steel Mopar 15" wheel that will directly swap for a '58 Mopar 14"er?

I think 14" wheels w/ 215/75/14s look too small on Winnie.

Plus 14" 225/75/14 ww tires are NLA.
But 225/75R15 would look just about right imo.

Advice please?

Then what'll you do for Hubcaps?
The 14's on my Fury look way to small, but unless you're going for you lungs for spoke wheels you're kinda caught in the middle of nowhere.

I know, that IS a problem I'd thought of, but the only thing I could
come up with is use a stock Mopar hubcap whose design I like in place
of the originals, the ones on my '71 Fury were pretty good looking and
generic, had no make or division name on them, for example. A
compromise no doubt, but I'd keep the stock 14" wheel and hubcaps on
hand too.

I've seen a few HubCapotomies, using a trim ring and some tapered head screws. Not perfect but OK for a driver.

To your question, I think any stock 15" wheel will fit.  I put 15s on the '62 NY; they fit great.  Since they were steel Road Wheels the need for a cap was not an issue; can't help you there.

I've got Road Wheels on the '70, so want more or less "stock" steels
and wheel covers on the '58... so the stock steel wheels from a '70/71
or the kind on '80s 5th Aves and Dippys will fit on the '58?

I believe so.  n fact, if you can get a set of the 15x7s that were on many of the Fifth Avenues you will have a nice wide rim to work with.  They were all 5x4.5" bolt patterns.

I used to have 2 sets of them. . . .  Now they're scattered.  One set is on Polaraco.  If I had them, you could have them.

Look for old Cordobas and the like too - many of them had the 15x7 wheels, but also had 15x6.5.
