I thought I was nuts pouring 20K into a 100.00 car that should have been scrapped.
Either he truly enjoys metal fabrication or just nuts.
Great job regardless.
The Forward Look cars had rust issues from the showroom floor.so the restorer knew what he was getting into that's for sure.

Wow, after looking at this, there is nothing that can't be fabricated. Good job, even if this is all the farther he has gotten, some of the first pictures started in 2007 or earlier.

All I can say is WOW...That is a lot of work he's doing to that car.  My 68 Coronet 500 'vert was rusty...but that 59 Fury 'vert made mine look like a gem.

It is one to keep an eye on. I would have figured, unless panel replacement and some fabrication work was the main effort, yeah, get something else. What he needs is a metal sprayer to increase the thickness of the thinned panels to begin with.

I've known John "Big M" Fowlie quite well for years... he actually got
that car here in Upstate NY  and he's a mainstay at
forwardlook.net, my other internet home away from home,  and
I've bought sheet metal and trim for my '61 Belvedere, '57 Cust Burb
and others from him.. he's a great and honest guy and a genuis at
restoring cars that have no right to be restored! He's bought back to
life a '58 Dodge wagon, '58 "Christine" and several others. Helps that
he owns a large salvage yard dedicated exclusively to 50s early 60s
cars in Williams "rust free" California and is a talented bodyman/mechanic
in his own right.   I highly recommend him to anyone needing parts
for the kind of cars he has. I know I'll use him again for sure.

"you get to the point where you ask why"

Because he can...he likes doing it..  and it's rare... and worth
north of 50-60 Grand when done. And believe me his work makes us look
like hacks... check out his blue/lt blue 58 wagon on the thread "Best
pictures of our Forward Looks" .  I've seen the car and it's
gorgeous.

Always nice to hear about friends that are honest and good, both for the hobby/restoration/fixing up of these old pieces of history. I will keep him in mind if I ever need anything.

Well regardless of your endorsement of his character...which is nice to hear as well..You can definitely tell this man is very talented with metal and mechanicals.

He's always treated me well, and Ive never heard a bad word about him from any of the many forwardlookers who've dealt with him... he knows how to ship big stuff cheap too. Great guy all around, he used to be a mechanic in Ohio before he moved to CA and bought the "yard". His wife's a car nut too,  drives a nice '69 Hurst Olds.

I think I've passed his wrecking yard before, next to the freeway in Williams.
