Aaaaaa, that should be fun, make the kid suffer. My daughter is so spoiled, got myself in a financial position that I could simply get what I want when I wanted it, so she doesn't do without very much. She does have to wait quite a few years before she gets the 68 Charger, whether she realizes it or not. I have other things I want to build first, and the Charger ain't going anywhere until they are done. By that time it will probably be worth too much to drive, but that is beside the point right now.

Definitely one of the prettiest First Gen Barracudas I have seen, congrats and enjoy. One lucky kid, I say.
And thanks to all for the words of approval on the whole thing along the way. We are down to needing mirrors, front end alignment, seat belts and tags/registration.  Might not make it by Thanksgiving, but definitely by Christmas!

Took it out for it's very 1st legal drive. I drove it to the gas station, then
to a friend's house. Convinced the trans turned out, the steering is true and
straight and the brakes are more than adequate (scarebird conversion) - it was
Jake's turn to drive. Told him to take out on the interstate after 15 minutes
behind the wheel to get a feel for it. Sounds and rides reaaly nice at 65 mph.
Went about 8 miles, then cloverleafed back towards home. All systems were good.
Stopped by walmart for a few items and had to laugh at the look on Jake's face
as we walked away from it leaving it in the parking lot all alone. 15 min later,
we came out fired it up and he drove me home. We have a few things to tweak this
weekend - linkages, speedo needs lubed again, dash lights are out and gonna swap
the center of the $150 8-3/4 we stole - although it felt really good before
installing, it is noisy as anything..... I have another known good 3.23 center
section to put in it.

Overall, very very pleased with the ride and feel
of the car!! After this weekend I'll drive it to work a couple of days and then
when Jake gets his parking permit for school, it's all him.

Too all the
followers and those who have commented along the way, thanks for the following
and comments, suggestions and inquiries!

I agree the hood makes it, along with the way the front center section is painted to match the car.

Excellent!!  I will always remember the first time we drove Jerry's Gremlin across and around town.  I will also remember the second time when a fusible link exploded under the dash!  Whoa!!!

Absolutely gorgeous car!!  And I have to agree with the others....that hood really sets the car off...I love it!!

Congrats to you and your son for doing such a great job on the car.  And the hours spent with him doing this project will be priceless, for you and him, as the years go by.
