This sort of small mistake is quickly made, yet often hard to find. Keep us posted on the progress!

Thought you might want to know Polaraco is NOW running lkike expected.  The MPG went way up.  I drove about 125 miles on 8 bucks worth of gas.  Short trips

Take her out for a cruise and see what she does on the open hiway. Hard to tell how much that really is, 8 bucks there may not be worth 8 bucks where someone else is. Glad, nonetheless, to hear things sound and run better.

There's something wrong.  That's 2.4 gallons!  50 MPG?  Can't be

Unless you have something that is measuring the fuel being used or measure the fuel in something other than the gas tank, so you can actually visually verify the amount of fuel you use, full tank to full tank over several tanks is the most efficient way to calculate fuel mileage. Sometimes one tank doesn't do it, and of course short trips are not as accurate as long trips.

On the other hand, if it is 50 mpg, check it one more time to verify, then start publishing your build!

Since I have to rebuild this 413, I may as well port the heads. . . .

One of the best ideas you have had in a long time. Our build, yes, but my part was all verbal. Glad she is doing so well once all the bugs have been worked out. I would venture to say she is running in the very low 30mpg range, which is still very good for a car as large as a Polara.

When I take it down to do the dash this spring, I am going to get a longer drive shaft made.  This one is about an inch too short.  This spring Polaraco gets the roof done, Dash, rewiring and drive shaft.  Then I can start long trips.  It will be more comfy and reliable.

I think the Cal Cat may have something to do with that at 30 MPG too
