1960 Belvedere new Project 413!
« on: October 24, 2011, 02:36:27 PM »

Hey guys new to the site! I just picked up a 1960 plymouth 2dr coupe sedan. I got the car really cheap and came with a running 413 and 2speed. currently i just got the car down to garage where i will be doing the body work and paint. Car needs floor pans, and of course bottoms of 1/4's. I pulled the 413 out currently putting it together with fresh bottom end and for some reason I put a set of hughes stage III 906's on it. Also got rid of the 2 speed and in goes a 727. I will post pics of the updates as i go. I am thinking painting from the trim down flat black and above the trim a deep red metallic.

WELCOME!!
Rare car there.
413 I like
Flat black and metallic red i like.
Six Pak scoop??
It clashes with the body style ,IMHO.
I would recommend hood louvers for the early 60's custom style theme

Hey Thank you for welcome! The Hemi hood scoop will defintaly not be on the car we had it laying around and we threw it on. But it def. Doesn't go. Might make a subtle cowl hood. Who knows keep ya posted

Definitely welcome.  Agree with that hood scoop, anything higher than one inch tall would look bad I think. Louvers are cool though (because they are less than one inch tall!!!!).

Yes, where in New Jersey, Polaraco runs this site, would love to stop by and say hi. It ain't like living in California or Texas where it takes half a day to go from one side to the other, I actually live in a county larger than New Jersey, so Polaraco can stop by and meet with more enthusiasm than you should be allowed to have in one day. In short, he is definitely one of the good guys and he has the goal of meeting each and every one of us in person (as long as we are on this continent, Europeans are set for a vacation in the far future).

Welcome!

Good project.  Never being a fan of the '60 Plymouth I thought the scoop improved the car!  Also, I've never much cared for louvers.  You know what the say about the eye of the beholder....

Did you get a 5-button gear selector for the 727, or is it a non-cable transmission and you will put something in the floor?

Hey thanks! Actually the hemi scoop looks good on backwards like a cowl hood!! but no .. I am putting a floor shifter in the car. I am trying to not spend alot on this car and basically using what ever we have around the shop going in. kind of rat rot/hotrod. The drivetrain will be pretty stout. Looking for possible wheel lip patches instead of trying to make them anybody know of a source? for 1/4 panels?

Welcome to Moparfins Tim!!...and Congratulations on getting the 60 Belvy...Awesome looking car ...Definitely one of my top Mopar favorites. I almost bought a 60 Savoy 2 dr sedan a few years back but would up buying a 57 Belvy instead. Through my search I had noticed this one for sale on a few different Mopar forums but my (big) project days are over. Sure am glad to see it has a new home!! I had hoped an enthusiastic Mopar Fin Lover would buy it and turn it into something great. I look forward to many progress photos! Do it up exactly the way you want it.

Best wishes to you,
Bob

Polaraco,
Thank you! wow what a great site that is! I sent a parts request so I will see what happens. If not ill just end up making my own. Wheel lips might be a hassle but doingin peieces should be fine. I had a mopar only restoration shop in philly for 3 years until work got slow and moved on to new career so its good to get back in the game. Never was really into fin cars or anything pre62 for that matter but i think these cars are going to be the next big thing. If any of you have free time Google the word "Nunrunner" We are the shop that built that car....
