New job
« on: June 24, 2011, 06:17:01 AM »

I have a 3 day weekend before I start my new job on Monday. Starting for Cannon Boiler Works in New Ken/Arnold, have to be there at 6:45 Monday morning, start pay $12/hr, Finally I give myself a nice pay raise instead of a cut in pay, can not wait to start.

Allright! This must mean the economy is recovering!

NOT!

But hey, at least you have a job and a pay raise over what you were getting.

Congrats Tom! Let's hope this is the start of a recovery.....but not until the purchase of my first home happens coming up.

I need prices and interest to stay down a leetle while longer

Congrats Tom!  Corps. have tons of cash and hiring quite a bit...
mostly overseas, especially in the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia,
India, China), where labor's cheap. And banks have tons of cash but
aren't lending.

Your timing is good Bob, interest rates have come back down and are as
low as we'll ever see... about 4.4 on a 30 yr fixed. We follow this
stuff because we invest RE, not equities.  Our first home in 1974
was at 10%! We have 3 loans out right now: 5.5, 5.2 and 4.7%..but
the 5.5 will be paid off in 3 years, that will feel good!

Been at work not even a week, next week I start 3rd shift and get a .50 shift differential, not too shabby, being that I will get home before 8AM will not need daycare services and save $160 a week, so things are now looking up.

What do you have to do there? Boiler works sounds either hot or lots of heavy lifting....
