How Fast will it Go..
« on: June 01, 2011, 03:41:26 AM »

This weekend is Mopar Day at St. Thomas Raceway Park on June 11.

In October the car ran 16.49 @ 86. Since then I added an H-pipe,traction bars ,1/2 in paper insulator under the carb and a K&N filter..

The weather is supposed to be 73 and sunny.

Any guesses on what it might run.

Then on June 12th I will be racing my buddies 12 second 1971 Demon.. woo hoo...

15.97.

Balanced exhaust and better breathing will take off half a second on an otherwise stock car.

It made a big difference from 2500 on... it was very surprising the difference..

I would love to see that much of a pick up.. I could actually make it to 3rd gear... LOL

BTW.. We found a super short set of 15 inch tires... I think they work out to 23 inches tall... we are gonna try them after eliminations and see how much I pick up with the more gear the short tire will give me..

Sounds good, but if you are doing bracket, consistency is the key, might not want to beat your fastest time, that's how you lose. Start with the small tires, finish with the small tires. Mopars are great for consistency time and again.

The Fiero with the Caddy 4.9 was consistent. Guy ran it prior to my doing the top end and he was in the mid 10s in the 1/8th mile, five runs were .300 second difference between them. He did half hour between runs, back to back five minute runs, had a good array of runs. Did the porting of heads and intake, did the same five runs as close to the run as possible, and all five runs, cooling down or back to back, all within .005 of each other. Gotta love being able to build consistency and 9.335 in the 1/8th mile consistency.

I am a former Drag Racing Track Champion and Race of Champions Winner at Indy., I was also a hired driver and drove for multiple teams. I know all about drag racing..

If you read in my second post I put AFTER ELIMINATIONS I will swap the tires.

No quarter times, there is only an 1/8th mile track, run by the cops down at Qualcom Stadium in San Diego, but he was happy with the performance after I took care of the engine.

I saw the after elimination, and I apologize, I took that to mean that after the majority were eliminated, it would be something like the final 16 or something like that and you were going to change things up to be faster. I guess I have seen Pinks all out a time or two and simply misunderstood. Gotta give me a little bit of a break, almost nobody knows nobody on any site like this, sometimes it could mean talking to a fifteen year old, sometimes someone as experienced as yourself. Other than your age an bellybutton hernea, I know about as much about you as my neighbors. Sorry.

I guess my response was a little strong now that i read it... sorry about that..

This is me in the Big Block Aspen I used to own.

This is the 9 second Mustang I was hired to drive. I was a Merlin 468 Chevy with tunnel ram, 6000 stall with a glide. This was shifted at 8500 rpm and went through the traps at 9000 at 135 mph.

This is me and my soon to be wife in the winner circle in Indy after the race of Champions win. This is a 16 second car but I had won Rookie of the Year, track Championship and the Indy win. It was a special year back in 1997. Nice thing was I left on the second light ( Just like in the Windsor) and could turn on the radio through the traps to see if I won... 6600 rpm in second gear through the traps... LOL

This was the awards ceremony at the end of the 1997 season. I got a bunch of extras for winning and rookie of the year.

Here I am racing again Multiple time NHRA Record holder Steve Polhill in his 1981 Escort back in 1997. At this weekend he ran the stock/Super Stock program as wella s our class. His worst light all weekend was a .515 light... He still campaigns this car and he is the major reason the slower classes have been combined into one class now. It has run as quick as low 15's in Legal Stock trim.
