Mopars at the strip report.
« on: April 11, 2011, 08:58:08 AM »

Miserable weather! Cold, windy, rain and even SNOW! very little "C" Body cars or parts. Still was a good time though. Here's a picture of my only purchase at the swap meet. A set of 5 Road Wheels with American Motor center caps.

Good score Chris!  I recognised the AMC caps instantly!!  (You more than likely are not interested, but you can buy the red center lables new from American Parts Depot if you want to.)

Thanks Snotty. I didn't realize it before but the AMC caps only have three mounting holes compared to five on the Chrysler caps. Two of the five rims I bought only have three holes in them so I'm guessing they are AMC rims.

Great find!!!  The fact that AMC had them is a bonus, the demand
is likely less for them and most people probably don't know that they
fit C's as well.

So that makes how many sets now?

Chris is the Hunt Bros of Road Wheels (the guys that tried to corner the world market on Silver)!

[/QUOTE] I think that makes 7 1/2 complete sets all in good shape and a few extrra center caps and trim rings. Probably gonna take a set to Spring Fling this weekend to sell.

Chris, as far as I know AMC never used those wheels.  The AMC Rallye Wheel was simliar, but the holes were wider and fewer.

That being said, I do have a picture in one book of a '78 Matadore with what appears to be these wheels.  It's the only one I have and is not a good close-up.  I'll check some AMC sites and see what I find.

I will have to take a good look at the two wheels that have only 3 mounting holes for the center caps to see if there is any other difference. I was assuming that meant they were AMC wheels because I've never seen any other Road Wheels with anything other than 5 holes. Let me know what you find out Snotty.
