my feeling is it will be 5-10 yrs before values recover to any extent in areas where it's declined precipitously, it will be a very slow climb back.
That's why we might rent if we don;t like the offers, or not get any.  Every year we will gain 10 grand in total equity.  We owe $69,000 on the main Mortgage at this time with a final payment in 2018.

I hate present day "Country" too, but I do like the really old stuff, along with just about everything else: classical, blues, jazz, bluegrass, Motown...everything  except rap (I've always said the C  in rap is silent). [/QUOTE]

Oh Yea!!!  If Jerry moves to an Apartment in Fresno the Gremlin comes too.  We put too much money and time into that car to let some renters tear it apart.

I'm sure Moe would concur!

There's a 70 F3 vert for sale for $5K in Albuquerque NM, could be on your route!

I almost bought it instead of the blue one, it's a super solid Southwestrn car! And a 318 too!

It's on Albuquerque Craigslist. The guy is nice and seems honest. Also
very motivated to sell. He agreed to 4700 before I decided to go with
the blue one. I beat him down from 6k.  The distancce was the problem for me.

When you consider they made ony 1900 of them and the rarity, its a darn
good deal for a running solid pretty rare convertible, and the last
year for Mopar verts too... IMO!

Scott you should pick this up!  - you can have a His N' Hers set!!!

It's only slightly less rare than the 70 Newport vert:

Or is yours a 69?

Fusealge convertible Production (only made '69/70):

69 Newport: 2169

69 300:        1933

70 Newport: 1124

70 300:        1077

69 Fury & SF:  5708

70 Fury III    1952  (no Sport Fury model 'vert that year, but there was a SF wagon, weird!!)

69 Polara:      prod # n/a - due to fire? prob ~3000. looking at 69 Fury

70 Polara;        842

So all Fuselage C body 'verts are rare!

Example:

69 Ford Galaxie & XL:  14,312

70 Ford XL:     6348 (no Galaxie vert for 700

69 Impala:    14,415

70 Impala:      9562

Like muscle cars, convertible sales plummeted around 1970/71 due to safety regs, insurance.

Mopar's last was '70, Ford in '72, GM held out until '75.

Mine's a '70.  They are rare, indeed, unfortunately, that does not add to their value.  I get a kick out of people selling '75 GM ragtops as "rare" as asking 15k+ for them.  But, ask 10 grand for a '70 Mopar 'vert and you get laughed at.

There's no justice....

Speaking of which, would love to buy the car, but that has to be taken up with my wife....

Be patient Scott, it took a while before C's were seen as anything else but engine-donors, so it will take anothe lapse of time before the special models will increase in value (even 300 Hursts & SF GTs are pretty cheap compared to similar offerings from Fomoco & GM). Meanwhile, you can enjoy premium convertible for cheap ;)

I hope your move will turn our good for you!

Yep, and they are cars to hang on to and not sell anyhow!

Remember when Mopar B bodies sold for way less than equivalent FoMoCo
and GM models in the 70s and 80s?  I believe the same thing will
happen for the C bodies, they are rarer, AND better!

Parts are fairly plentiful, most were owned by older people of family people, so they were't abused. . .  Not too many cheap knock off parts though
