Well....
« on: January 15, 2011, 09:27:42 PM »

My 14 yr old son was at a model car show and swap meet today, when he texts me pics of a Jo-Han 1/25 scale '68 300.  For 27 bucks.......  There's one on Ebay right now for 95...  and another for 30 but the auction is still going.  What a deal!

I agree.
Any Jo-Han kit is very collectable and they are hot right now.
Only a few kits were re-issued by other model compaines after Jo-Han went belly up,but most are long gone and the molds are no longer available.
I had over 50 kits over the years and the Jo-han kits were my favourites.
Unlike MPC,Revell, and Mongram, the Jo-han's made some  kits of some pretty unique cars.
Of course,I having a love affair with the 68 Chrysler,I built a kit waay back when i was still in school, and has since been long gone.
I scored this original issue flat box - opened, but never built- a few years ago for 25 bux.
This one's a keeper and it will never get built...almost like the real thing,eh?

Unbuilt kit like CBarge has in his hand....  In mint condition.  The boy is pestering me to let him build it.   Btw, did I tell you guys what he wanted for Christmas?  An auto dark welding helmet, welding goggles, gloves, and bib.  He's very interested in welding and body work.  He's already learned to lay a good bead.  I hope to get him a small wire feed machine soon.  He goes and helps various old car friends with their projects, and actually looks at it as fun!carrman2011-01-16 13:50:56

Buy another kit and build it.Buy a re-issue kit.
Leave the original one  unbuilt.
They lose their value after being built--almost by 95%
Unlike me,my dad, uncle and cousions,I wish my nephew was into cars so we could share a common interest.
So,make sure your boy gets all the tools he needs to make those memories both of you can share...Supporting his interest is something you will never regret.

I'll keep that in mind!  As far as bulding the model I'm not sure, as the molds are gone, and they can't be re-run.
