62 Chrysler New Yorker Blue Diamond Restore
« on: October 31, 2010, 02:16:07 PM »

I hope I'll be able to post pictures every week for the winter.

Decided to call her the Blue Diamond.  Why?  Because the car is going blue and it's a diamond in the rough.

Got the front back off, did some nit blasting on the rough spots of rust.  Washed it all down with my whiches brew and letting it dry.  Tomorrow, I'll blow some rust converter on it , then prime and paint the fire wall.  Have to get the inner fenders ready too.  Haven't decided how I am going to handle the front fenders yet.  I have to get all that paint off, or at least smooth before I color them up too.  There are olaces where the paint is coming off.  It's hard to tell how the car was prepped.  The black should probably all come off.  I just need a way to do it quickly, short of dipping

Stan I saw it the other day before the fenders were off. I don't think chaos is the correct word. Maybe brilliant-disarray!

Spoken by two guys that haven't the seeds to undertake a project like this.  Shame on you Stanley.  Steve, you I understand because of the lack of places to work

Yeah. . .It was in the other tent on the hand truck with the Cylinder heads. . .   Figure that one out.

At least I have something to keep me occupied all winter now.  Plenty of work to do.

I looked at it this morning and it looks good after painting it with rust converter.  ready for primer

BEFORE!

AFTER rust converter

Next it will be masked off and primed.  May be painted by the weekend.  I might be able to get the inners done too.  The left one needs to be degreased first.

This car is going to be an easy one.  The H will be just as easy if not easier

Don't hold your breath unless you are coming to help. . .

I just assessed the electrical system.  .Nothing works except the parking brake light.  Great start.  Good thing I have spare parts for these.  But that cleans out my spares inventory
