I buy & sell cars so much I guess I automatically assume that, but
a contracted-out resto makes a whole lot of sense too, for the
time-challenged.  Me, I got time but no $$.

Stan wins the cigar.  You can buy it if you want too though.  But you won't pay the price.  LOL

I don't have either.  But when Chris and I get to the nitty gritty, I guess  I can decide then.  Fortunately for Chris and me, there isn't a whole pile of parts and materials that need tom be bought.  The interior is the worst case, which I need to spring for.  This is mostly labor right now

Although Chris does great work, maybe this isn't a good idea.....

Steve puts more miles on his cars when the wheels aren't touching the ground.....

time to keep your cards close to your vest.....long distance love affairs never work out

[/QUOTE] I think Bob might be right here. As much as I would love to help you out Steve just the transport expense would probably break the bank and leave little funds left for the restoration. I would have to contract out the upholstery work unless you'd be happy with milk crates for seats. LOL. If you were closer it would be a no brainer but 2500 miles is not close.

You guys are forgetting what this car is.  This is a letter car and deserves the best I can afford..  I'm not worried about the 5000 miles,   I'm worried about who works on it.  After all this time with the car, I want it done right. I, unfortunately, don't have a place to do the job properly.

Bob. . .  Milk crates will be in order while you do the seats.  I'll have the door panels made.  I could do all the other stuff, but not as well without a garage.

Well thank you Steve. If the distance doesn't bother you we'll see if we can work something out. I'm getting ready to leave in an hour for Fall Fling in Ca. so I won't be on here untill Sunday night. Just letting you know so you don't think I'm ignoring you.

Steve - the guy that is bringing my 56 Olds from Phoenix in 2 weeks may
be able to cut you a good deal in order to avoid dead-heading back to
Phoenix, last I knew he didn't have a return load. He's a great
transporter, he brought my Packard from Oklahoma and does a lot of work
for John "Big M" Fowlie, one car at a time... he's as good as they get
and very reasonable. PM me if interested.

Thanks Roj

But I will transport it myself.  It's a good excuse for me to meet Chris anyway.

Funny. . . I know all these guys thousands of miles away, but you and I haven't met yet.  I haven't been to Willet since early spring either

Well, let me know when you get to your place here in upcountry NY or
enroute to Lea's and we'll rectify that...  and I'll make sure to
wear my blue shirt!

If you do decide time is too short to do NJ-AZ-NJ, I think Leo would do it for under 1K.
