Is the ring around the ignition switch supposed to be illuminated on a '65 Chrysler?

Does a bulb go next to the switch?  I think there is one.  If so yes, the ring lights up

There is a bulb and it is working but there is no ring illuminating.  WTF?  I wonder if it got chromed over when I had the bezel re-chromed.

It's not a whole ring, just one or two gaps in the housing.  There might be something that has to be properly lined up when you screw in the bezel, but I don't remember the details.

It only lights up with the switch in the parking light position, and doesn't do much to actually light the switch.

It could be dirty too.  As I recall, and I only took the parts car apart, the ring is in the locking nut.
That is correct, unless you modified the wiring, the light will only come on with the parking lights.  There is a way of having the parking lights work with the headlights.  I think you just run a jumper to the front lights at the switch.  It's been years since I did my 66

What's the point if it only lights up when the Parking Lights are on?
