I will try a few shift points.. I'm gonna start at 4800.. didn't the 383 magnum run out of steam around 5100rpm because of the cam?

Lifter pump-up safety in the drivetrain setup mostly.

Here is the result...

16.494 @ 86.92

Leaving at idle shifting at 4800rpm...

Then I got to hope in my buddy's Demon and run 13.38.. that was fun too..

I was running out the back door in 2nd gear.. LOL

Anything of 4800 was a waste of time. I figure of 4.30's would get it in the 15's.. LOL

You could feel the springs winding up and releasing all through 1st gear. I really need new springs!!! These are sagging and coil over shocks hold the car up..

It fell flat on it's face at 5000 rpm... I bet with a set of headers or HP manifolds it would have worked a lot better breathing at the top...

It went 16.32 with 3.23 gears in it 8 years ago..

Since the car will run the number within a hundredth I was wondering whether I should run it at a few bracket races next year.

For streetability what would be the highest gear and still get decent mileage.. I was thinking 3.55 or 3.23.

I had 3.91 in my BB Aspen and it was way to much for the street for my liking..

The biggest thing I would need see to help the car would be better breathing.. I either need to find headers ( good luck) or find a set of Hypo C-Body Manifold for less than the cost of a ounce of gold ( good luck)...

I would love to afford the TTI exhaust from manifold back.. I have seen it and it is a work of art...

If she is that constant, leave it exactly the way it is, you said bracket racing, not heads up racing, so, if it's dialed in at 16.49, get in a bracket at 16.45 and stick with it time and time again. Bracket is about consistency, not speed.

That is true.. I won my championship running 16.60's LOL You leave on the second yellow, not the last one.. LOL

I would like to go through the traps in 3rd gear, not flickering the shift light at 4800 through the traps..

I was just thinking...

Could the power flattening at 4900 be because of points bounce and not the camshaft or crappy manifolds?
