Wipers not recessing
« on: October 05, 2010, 11:23:05 AM »

The wiper arms on my '70 Newport have stopped recessing.  They are staying up and will stop in any position I turn off the switch.  But, even if I push, they will not recess.

Any thoughts?

A rebuilt is less expensive, faster and more efficient.  It's not a rare car

Jules in not too far away from me.
Being only 3 hours away,I had seen his work first hand at local shows on other Mopars.
He is highly recommended and people are happy with his quality of workmanship.
For what he does, his prices are reasonable.Sure, more than a rebuild from a parts jobber, but that's his specialty..

"You can do a few things ok,or do one thing really, really well."

Parts jobber ones are OK,but some have experienced where one core was "rebuilt' a few too many times past its life and was deemed unreliable.

I never had that problem Lea. . .  Rebuilts aren't super great, but they work.

It could be just the park switch on the front of the unit.  I happen to have an NOS one. . .If I can find it

Steve, you have a NOS wiper motor?  How much do you want for it?  I'm sure I can find one at a junk yard, but I'd rather have one that has not been used if possible.

It has periodically done this since I get it, but it has stopped totally.  I thought it might be the switch.

Perhaps the wipers don't recess because they expect more rain...

Oh, you're just jealous!!!  Besides, we've had about .008" of rain these past 2 days.  We get rain.  Sheesh!

Ha!  Seriously, we have had some sprinkles and rain since Sunday; it's been nice.  It's not good for my Farmers though.
