Well, the wagon was making a noise I had not heard in her before.
I suspected the left front wheel bearing.
Upon inspection, the inner L/F wheel bearing was on the way out.
Turns out this wagon is still wearing its factory original rotors with a casting date of 5-73
The caliper is a pin type Kelsey Hayes unit that I suspect its original as well.
Also by the looks of the grease, that, too is so old it may have helped the bearing fail.
As of now it is working fine and I serviced the calipers while I had the front wheels off.The inboard pad was hanging up due to rust build up.The seal around the piston is dry and soft-no cracks.I wil keep close attention to it should  the caliper sieze up.
I did open the bleeder screw and the piston did open up.That's a good sign.

Also I fixed the left rear seatbelt retractor.I removed the rear seat and ended up cleaning out 37 years worth of crap outa there.
I found a Canadian Tire reciept dated September 6,1974  at 2:33 PM from the Bradford location.
A Greek coin,and a map of Ontario from 1978.

One of the goodies I got fron Steve is a really good Carter 2 bbl carb.
That will be next on the list..
Oh,the odometer is climbing rapidly.I bought the car with 58404 miles on it--today she is reading 59621!!! in less than three weeks!!

Update..
I have put 1750 miles on the car since I bought it which was 45 days ago!!
That's an average of 39 miles a day!
No major problems.
The flat spot was getting worse on part throttle so I did some tinkering tonight.
I was going to install the carb Steve gave me,but I will hold off until I really need to..
Why?
Simple stupid stuff I found tonight--loose carb body screws and bolts, and rotten vacuum lines.Fixed them first.
Then I noticed the plug wires ARE THE FACTORY ORIGINAL WIRES!! Dated 2-73.
Nice to know but they were junk. The resistance on them was high.
Ditto original cap and rotor.I found carbon tracks inside the cap so I replaced it.

The plugs are new and have no wear on  them and look clean.I checked  the gap and it is OK.
I cleaned off the undercoating from the air cleaner..now I have to make the rest of the underhood area to look as good..maybe next spring, though.

I also replaced the buggered up moldings on the right side doors.Scored them at Roblin's today.
They are OK and will do until I pick up the NOS ones I have waiting for me across the border..

Now..this looks much better after some polishing and proper mounting clips installed in place of the self tappers.

I had a productive day.
Drove 100 miles today.
Roblins,home,pick up Jacob,worked on the wagon,made supper--and had time for a much needed haircut,LOL!
I also installed my 15 inch snows and the 15 inch wheel covers Steve gave me.
They look good on there and are at least period correct Mopar wheel covers.

I still have to pull  the sending unit out and replace the float.
Not looking foraward to that since the tank in tucked up inside the left quarter panel.

It's so great to see that wagon getting the love it deserves.  You gotta make sure you go and visit Bill with it, especially after you've cleaned up the engine compartment and got the tank sender working again.

Still think you gotta look for a Kilo speedo for it just to be Canadian, eh?  Probably available in Europe in those Scandinavian Junkyards....

Thanks again Ross.
I am going back to the big smoke this saturday to drive the kids to a Yu-Gi-Oh regional tournament at the Metro Center.
I will drop in to have a coffee with him.

I love stories like this.   A neat, simple, non-descript car back in the day can still turn heads.

Bill will be happy to see the wagon with the new trim on it---NO DENTS!!
Today I did my trip across the border to pick up more parts.
The Waygun is a hit with the border guards.
Actually,it is to my advantage since they ask about whaty motor is in it and "you don't see those anymore" coments.
 I slide through with ease,LOL
I got this NOS tailgate molding to replace the dinged up one on the waygun.

This is a one year only piece and very hard to find.
I love NOS trim!! But sometimes you get more than what you bargained for.
I opened it up like a kid on Christmas morning and found somebody taped  right onto the surface.Plus years of storage it was slighty twisted, but no dents.
UGH!
