what is the torque rating for the industrial 413? 1200 ft-lbs? more? less? anybody?

Who said it was 1200 Ft Lbs.  My diesel barely has that at 600 HP.
 
I just built a 360 that dyno shows 325  FT and 235 HP.  I built that motor to be a torque monster too.  I have to say this is somewhere around 270  and that's a push.  It's only around 230 HP.  I can't find the torque spec to be more specific

Diesiels are very close to 2:1  So a 350 HP diesel would be around 700 Ft #.  A gas job has a much lower ratio.   Typically a stock motor would be around where I described.  The truck motors were built for hauling not for performance.  Torque is how much you can pull.  HP is how fast it will pull it.  Most people hear the Hemi has 500 HP.  But they don't realize the torque is just as important.
 
To me?  I say make your life allot easier.  Put the Mo Home trans in it and be done with it.  That Tourque Flite is one tough tranny.  Might eve out last the manual.  Just cool it correctly and life is good.
 
Is the transfwer case separate on the 92?  I forget

no. single piece w/ tranny. 727. i could get the de-vorced t.case. the early ones are pretty tough. i want the 4 speed for the grade though. what can i do to get the reliable 4x4 w/ 4 speed?

The 413 industrial came in closer to 420lb-ft torque, 260hp would be reasonable. Since the industrials were not designed to rev more than 3500rpm, usually in a fixed location or governed for generators or boats, cam profiles were very small to build torque very low. Can this be altered? Yes, change the cam and carb mostly. Heads would be next, because there were industrial castings with extra water hose connections on the fronts of the heads, really not sure what size combustion chambers they had, but they were more 7.5:1 through 8.5:1 compression ratios to run on cheap, bad, stale gas safely.

they dont need to be together. the devorced is fine. what should i get? i'm not too experienced with transmisssions. new process is a family fav. spicer too. can you give specifics?

its going in a work truck. i do a lot of mountain recovery, so slow is best. i dont want to change anything on the motor.

Pulling things in first gear, what with the low gear ratio, if it breaks, it would have broken with the lighter vehicle anyway, but I think that as long as he isn't trying to pull stumps or pile-driving the nose into the ground, it should be durable enough for his needs.

I do not ahve a definitive answer to your question because I do not ahve a book on that motor.  I can tell you that a '62-3 413 was rated at 470 pd.ft at 2800.  A '71 440 was rated at 460 (8.5:1 ratio) and the '72 with the "new" SAE Net ratimngs was 345 (8.2:1).
 
I doubt the 413 Industrial was rated much higher than either of these motors - if at all.  If you have a transmission rated for 900 pd.ft you'll have no problem with that motor. 
 
Getting it to mate is another question.

Polaraco's engine is 455 Ft Lb's at 235 HP.  Like a damned diesel.
