62 Chrysler Paint Colors------SNOTTY!
« on: September 03, 2010, 04:02:04 PM »

The good news about the car is I can start with the painting.  I don't have much to remove as far as trim is concerned, so I am going to dig right in to the front section and doors.  If I get all that painted before winter, I'll be able to drop the engine and trans in this coming spring.  The engine is done, I just have to swap it from the 65.

Here is my dilemma.  The car was originally Willow Green.  It was repainted Black and White.  But Chrysler didn't have a black in 62.  It's easier to keep it black, then to go back to the green.  Some of you may remember, I had a 62 Newport in that color.  My dad had one in Dawn Blue, and I loved that color.   Since I have toi redo the whole car, in and out, I was thinking of the Blue with a white roof.  The interior is gray cloth.  Iwas going to try to keep the color year correct, but no black

The Dawn blue is pretty, but the Willow is nice too!

The Sapphire Blue Poly would be different.  Put that on with a white roof.  That's pretty close to the electric blue on the 68

Go with Black Cherry - and get rid of the white top.  I know the top color is factory, but how many times do you want people to ask you if it's a Cop Car?  (I got that all the time!!!)

Am I reading the chart wrong?  Isn't BB-1 at the bottom of the left column "Formal Black"?
I do like the Dawn Blue too.

I'll be damned.  Good eye Dan.  I thought there was no black.  They just don't have the chip on the page.  I completely missed that.

I didn't see that n"BB" note either but I thought that black had to be there....  ??

I don't know if it's called anything else, but Black Cherry is black with a coat of clear red on the top.  Looks black in the dark, but when the sun hits it - oh yes!!

I am trying to decide if I should change the color or leave it black right now.  They looked good in the pastels, well I thought so. . .

In my opinion, it looked great in the "before" pictures. I vote keep it that way.

Thanks guys.  I'm not in for extra work so Black is a good possibility.

However, Black is going to be a real pain.  The body has to be perfect.  Planning on base coat, clear coat.  The paint on there now must have been put on with a puddy knife.  It's way to thick.
