"Sportsman" is not a model, it merely means 2 or 4 door hardtop, in the way "Holiday" meant hardtop for Olds. It's a '59 FireSweep Sportsman. I had a '58 FireSweep Sportsman. DeSoto had 4 models, in order of low to high-line:  FireSweep, FireDome, FireFlite, Adventurer.

Here's my '58, gone to Sweden when I decided the underside was too rotted for me to deal with:

The FireSweep, like the Chrysler Windsor, was built in the Dodge plant in Detroit.  All other 59's were built in the DeSoto or Chrysler plant and DeSotos had the model name (Firedome, Fireflite, Adventurer) on the side of the front fenders, but the 'Sweeps did not have one.  It's clearly shown in the '59 brochure.

Great candidate for a restoration! Hope he keep her pretty much stock, these are rare!

Very nice Chris... ya that guys panels are crap, I bought stuff from him for my '58 but they would have needed so much work decided not to use them. Then, not having your body skills I got frustrated and sold the car to Sweden. The inner rockers and floors were rotted, the shorty hardtop B pillar was rotted where it attached to the floor, trunk was like yours, bad quarters, lower f fenders, on and on, so I gave up, sold it,  and after looking for over a year got a good solid car from New Mexico. There is a guy who makes good Forward Look repro panels, "R-car" in CT or RI, I forget which and forget his name, if he's still doing it he uses heavier gauge and puts in the correct swaging and makes them fuller size. More expensive but worth it.  Enjoying this DeSoto resto! Hope they pick some cool '50s colors and not some boring cliche color like red or black or something!

Wow that Fury will be worth a few dinero when she's done... always loved that 60 dash... meet George Jetson!

And it's got that way cool square wheel too!  There's a guy who restores these... for $1000!!

Do they have that rear 1/4 lower trim? That kind of stuff is unobtanium !

BOTH are way cool. The Mack looks like it will be an easy one, but who knows what is underneath that great paint job. At least if you have to pound on it, the metal won't stretch. The Fury is gorgeous. I had forgotten there was the tire in the trunklid on them!

Steve Scalafani has one of those.  He and I brought it up from South Carolina several years ago.  After he had it de-rednecked, it turned out to be a nice car.  He did a good job on it.  He can help you with pics if needed.
