Hot August Nights Mopar
« on: August 08, 2010, 06:44:03 PM »

Frances and I were at Reno's Hot August Nights this past week.  It's a great show that I had never attended, even though I lived in Carson City for two years.

I shot over 100 pictures of many cars, of which there were gobs, but these shots are just of some of the Mopars that were there.

Hope you enjoy!

This is an original owner car.  I wish she had opened her hood.  I do appreciate cars that are driven....

This Charger was in the Autorama.  The body work was performed by Dan Brown who doid the beautiful work on my Brother-in-law's Camaro.  It has a nice custom interior; it was they who were displaying the car.

These and below were in Sparks, NV.

I love this A-100.

More to come....

Nice pics. I did that show 3 years ago - quite a sight - but the heat on all that asphalt was a b*tch. Did they have the semis do their light show? That was pretty impressive - a mile long convoy all lit up. And yes, that A100 is my fave of what you have shown

More shots....

This was in a '64 Plymouth

There were quite a few of these Plymouths in Sparks.

This is a true Hemi Car - nice!

This was a nice 273-auto Barracuda, but he was claiming that it was rare????

This guy was crazy!  His truck has 32 skulls in and around it.  Those on the bumper are his lights.  It has a nice 383 in it.

Back in Reno for the nightly cruise!

Yes, even a stock '68 Imp rolled by.

If you can ever go to Reno in August I would highly recommend it!

No semi show while we were there.  They said the Autorama was new this year, so I would guess they change events every so often.

Reno is a cool place,  unlike Vegas which is 1% glitter and 99% trash.  The neighborhoods have some old time charm.

Cool pics, thanks for sharing them.

Would love to get down there for Hot August nights, but I'm no fan of heat....But I'll get down there one year.

Ha!  Everything is so relative.  We appreciated the cooler weather than what we have in Bakesfield!    One guy told me it absolutetly poured rain and was very cold two years ago.

What we really liked about the weather was that it was 95* in the day but 56* at night!  We said they should call the show "Hot August Days."

Hot August Nights brags of cars in the thousands!  I beleive it.

I posted pictures of the evening Cruise.  That was one of 3 going on at the same time.  I was in Reno, there was another in Sparks (which I was told is larger) and a third at the largest casino, the Grand Sierra.  The show lasts for one week; we were there on Wednesday only.

I hear you on your wish, but I wish the same about Europe.  When I read about Sjak's travels - the historic places he's been that I have only read about - I am very jealous.
