Fire her up ???
« on: June 09, 2010, 05:04:18 AM »

My uncle, the most mechanically gifted guy I know, says I should throw
my new radiator in the F3, fire her up and see how she runs... I'm
tempted. While I know it will have to be dealt with, not havin her
mobile is driving me nuts and I don't mind pulling the rad again
later...

No offense taken, but my point is exactly as stated - if I throw in the
rad and run it now, which I can do, I'll be able to evaluate
whether to put the effort into this engine,  or wait until
later in the summer when I get the 8k orig mile 318... makes sense,
capiche?  But would it be likely to just dribble or re-create
Niagra Falls? It's just a fairly slow drip as is.  Obviously I
wouldn't be driving it around like that, but enough to see how it runs,
maybe do a compresion test and stuff.

Off to the North Country again...

My philosophy is this:  If I have to do do a lot of grunt work, I'm going to make it worth my while.  IIn other words, if I'm gonna work up a sweat on something relatively minor, I'll just bite the bullet and go the whole nine yards.  That's how I think.  But then again, it's gotton me over my head many times.  But I have never regretted it.  I keep saying to myself: "This is a hobby.  This is a hobby.  This is a hobby..."

Good sweat won't hurt you except for making you mentally weaker

As my 94 year old neighbor George says, "No one ever drowned on their own sweat!!"

I say fire 'er up....doesn't seem like much work to get it going.
