Not sure Brian.  It will probably not produce what is should.
May I suggest you run this past the guys on Igotacummins.com?  when you are done, ass this to your post  @Canadiandiesel   He lives up your way and will know.  He may even have something you can use and he's on your side of the line.  Spenser is a good guy and knows his schtuff.  I think he's an hour west of Calgary.  If that's a city

My new boss was the service manager at Cummins NW here in Medford, and worked at Cummins NW for 26 years.  I can show him the pic and ask him too.

There ya go.
I can't tell how gouged it is.  Last I heard though, if it made contact with the housing, it's toast.  It needs that tolerance to compress properly.  The damage appears to be in the compression zone.  I could be wrong though.  I'm not a turbo guru

Thanks...I would appreciate that. It did make contact on the inside as well.

1.  Stop driving it!!!!  You will dust the motor with metal bits.

2.  Cummins DOES NOT sell center sections or rebuild kits any longer; it's turbo time.

Brian
I asked Spenser to look at the thread.  You should have gotten an email mentioning you in the thread.  I only hang with the best

Yes I put the old turbo back on.  I put maybe 10 min on the turbo before I removed it.

The turbo I used was a take off of a running truck...it had wear in the bearings, but had not made contact with the housing.  I decided to use one of those off shore rebuild kits...guess there was more slop in those "new" off shore bearings, then the worn original holset units....

I have a book on rebuilding those here.  I guess I could mail it up if you want it.  You can return it with my hub puller

Thanks for the offer on the book Steve, but I'll be OK.

As for the puller...there was another board member who needed it and you asked me to send it on to him.  I can't recall who it was off the top of my head, but could probably dig it up if you need me to.

Dropped the crewcab off at the diff guy to have them re-geared from 4.10 to 3.54, Power-Loc rebuilt, and both front and rear diff totally redone.  They were untouched and original with almost 270K on them.

I usually don't farm out repairs like this to other people.  But this guy I go to is amazing, and I trust his work and integrity.  And with the diffs being so old, and never any work done to them, I did not have the luxury to have the truck down for a week of more, if I was to run into unforeseen issues.

He will hopefully have everything back up and running tomorrow.

Lets find out who that is.  I need to keep track of it.  Was it Roger?

I went from 373's to 342's.  I hate the work.

I will see if I can find out who I sent it to.
