SPACE- the final frontier!
« on: January 13, 2010, 11:03:21 AM »

Finally!! - it looks like the Quest for Space ... aka garage
expansion... will start getting underway this Friday, now that it may
be above freezing for the first time in weeks!   YAY!  A
14 x 17 shed which is right behind the 24 x 22 garage will be moved
across the back yard while ground is still frozen, to make way for a
DIY addition to the back of that red garage at left,  making the 2 car garage into a
4 car. I know, I know, it'll still be too small, but an 8ft high fence
4 ft from the new back wall limits how far back I can go ... well, I
just may try  to expand it a bit sideways too, and pick up a few
feet that way.... so, this year's goal is to get corner and center
poles in (pole barn type construction, I put a garage on my old house
in VT that way, it's cheaper) -  and the roof on, which gives a
carport type storage area for now, then when I have the $$$, close it
in, and pour concrete floor up to the 2 X 12 floor girts... the
objective is 2 "dead" storage spaces and a decent 1 x 2 car work space,
that's' all  I will get in that small yard... hmmm,...but if I put
in extra tall poles,  maybe pick up storage upstairs?? ... always
always always need more space!!  and now, hopefully, getting
some!!!
Cripes, I was 40 before I even had a garage... never forget changing
the '68 Dart GT radiator in our gravel driveway, middle of January
1983, 30 mph wind, 12 degrees outside, when the wife hit a cow coming home
from night shift at the hospital... but that's another story!

Congrats! Like you already say, it'll be too small soon, but hey, more is better!

I already crammed my 36*51 garage full of stuff (most of it useless) even with the Imperial gone, not much space left...

"more is better" ...but in this hobby (no pun intended) - more is never enough!!!

It'll still be small, but at least not quite as small as it was.

And I'm thankful for that!

The last shows the cleared building site, ready for garage expansion... c'mon Spring!!!

(I don't build in winter!).

That shed is bigger than it looks - the PO had a Model A Ford in it, with space left over!

These guys do! I like some of their 2 story built on site stuff...my friend had them do his garage in Chatham, NJ in the extreme cold last year

It ain't even started! :-(

At least the site is cleared now.

Soon as the ground thaws out for good.

Those Stoltzfus buildings are nice - now to just win the lottery!

I DIY out of nececcesity, I don't mind carpentry though.
