some pictures of Europe
« on: January 12, 2010, 02:40:31 PM »

For my US-friends, some pics of my trip from last Sunday, I visited Bruges, a Belgian city. It's on the UN world heritage list, and for good reason.

It's also a great place to enjpy some of the worlds finest chocolate. And the beer and food is also great, as it is anywhere in Belgium.

Not on the pics are the art museums we visited, with a collection of paintings dating back to 13th/14th till 17th century, really impressive.

Very cool. Saw a movie a couple of years ago callled "In Bruges"  Odd, dark comedy about a couple of hitmen from London hiding out in Belgum.  It showed a lot of similar scenes.

That movie is very cool! To me it was lots of fun as all locations are familiar, as its only 2 hours drive from here. Go there regularly for a short break.

The special thing about the city is that there's no new building at all (except for the theatre), and no asphalt either within the ringway, only cobblestones. They take a lot of care now to preserve the ancient looks of Bruges.
