Best to go with steel, brass, or rubber expanding?  For longevity & no leaks.

I could only get steel for my Stude, so I smeared the Teflon pipe dope (hardening kind) all over the backside of them before setting them (they were the shallow disc style)....they won't rust now

One guy here is big on the rubber expanding type, I'm not sure why - what are the + and -  of em? ?

Rubber is quick repair or for I can't get in there without tearing the whole engine out.  They don't last forever, tend to leak and blow out.  The rubber deteriorates quickly
 
What's wrong with you guys???
 
Look how long those plugs have been in that engine.  40 years before they rotted out.  Why not just replace it with the original replacement and be done with it.  These will last even longer because you will have washed the sand out already.  Sheeesh
