Actually, the US spelling, and as found on the American periodic
tables,  is alumiNUM, with no 2nd I. The element was originally
named without either N or I:  alumium, a metallized form of
alum.  Eventually the N was added here, and the NI was adopted by
the Limeys, both are in common usage.  But it says ALUMINUM FOIL
on my Reynolds Wrap... that's good enough for me!!!

In any event - they are indeed aluminum, and not steel then?  They do look like 77 Cordoba wheels.

  Yes they are aluminum. They look like the regular steel road wheels.  They are alot lighter though.
