Get this y'all!! - the derby dude I got the 71 F3 from just GAVE me a
NEW Canadian made gas tank he just took out of another C-body!! 
From research it seems there are Chinese made and Canuck made, these
are the best ones you can get.  They have to use fuel cells, so
his derby buddies had no use for it...  apparently it had just
been put into a '73 Imp the month before,  and then the 
owner blew the engine! Has a brand new $90 sender in it too, 
total worth: over $500!  Whoopee!! Kinda makes up a bit for the
leaky freeze plug set-back we've suffered!!

He also gave me an almost perfect factory battery tray!!

What a score!!! The tank and sender are probably made by Spectra Premium Industries in Quebec and are better quality than even the O.E.M. ones! I've got the sender and am quite happy! http://www.spectrapremium.com/spectra.html The rads are great quality also! If you buy Chinese,it ends up in the landfill within a year or so!

Yes I do think it is Spectra Industries, no name on it, but the
part # on there is the same, and I'm quite impressed with the quality of it...
it seems that one of the challenges for all of us now is in finding
good quality aftermarket parts, eg: ball joints, tie rods, rotors, etc, because
even with Moog and other well known names that were once quality
items,  so many of them are now outsourced and today are inferior
Chinese made parts.

A recent part I bought was a tranny crossmember mount.  Made in India. The OEM was aprox. 3/16ths" steel while the Indian one was 1/8th". Ya just know that....

Wouldn't a tranny crossmember mount be a fairly easy 'yard find? I can
probably find one in my local goldmine if you need one... they're often
coated with oil so should be solid too.

Progress being made.  Didn't take pics, not much to see, but got
the whole rear under-floor cleaned up and repainted with primer and
satlin black enamel - there was only sporadic light surface rust, no
scale,  and the car won't be driven in the wet much, if at all, so
I opted for wire brushing and Rustoleum primer and black, not Por15,
which I did use on the trunk floor. Then took out fuel pump &
filter, dis-connected the carb, blew out all the lines with carb
cleaner and air, put in new fuel filter and fuel pump (both from NAPA,
and USA-made, BTW) w/ new rubber hoses. Debating whether to pull the
carb and rebuild, or not. Next this week: put the new gas tank in. Have
to clean up the filler neck, some rust inside. Then pull the rad and
take it for a re-core - it shows evidence of leaks.  Want to keep
the original header tank. We have a good rad shop here still, not many
left.

The mount, not the whole member.  The thingie with the rubber whatzamacallit in it.

There are good an bad over the counter ones
I forgot the name of the outfit that makes mounts. . .   They are made with safety tabs and stuff.  Mobby managed to break one. . .

Ya I may re-do mounts too, if the motor is coming out...  you know
how this goes ... " as long as I'm at it, I might as well do X" ...
this is why resto is so $$$$$$.

thanks for the tip - I've heard the standard replacements have a high
failure rate recently... more quality parts from China no doubt.

Oh this one will hold up,   I'm probably hitting close to 550lb-ft of torque & I ain't killed mine yet!   Worth the 79.95 for it.
