what & where to get cloth & glue
« on: October 07, 2009, 06:45:36 AM »

OK so I'm going to do gray cloth.  What material and foam to use
and where's a good place to get it? Is there a place on the 'net? And
if I do both the roof and inner C panels, how many yards should I
get?  I'm not at all confident I can do a decent job on this, I'm
a big hammer & saw kinda guy!

Try http://www.smsautofabrics.com/  , I requested a sample for my Dodge 600 and 2 weeks later it was in my mailbox, it is 100% match I could not believe it, never thought I would find the original cloth.

Thanks!  I dealt with them 23 yrs ago to get original blue brocade
seat cloth for my '77 Gran Fury, I still have some of it!  They,
and Original Auto Interiors in Michigan, specialize in old and classic
car interior materials.  SMS is expensive, but the onyy game in
town for some rare car materials. I think I can just get a generic foam
and cloth headliner material for mine from a main line supplier to the
trade at lower cost, now I just need to know where.  I'm working
on 4 cars at once and need to pinch pennies!!

After a long research SMS was  the only one who had the original material for my dodge but expensive indeed, I will need a carpet soon for the Imp and it will look really nice with the original, will check Original Auto Interiors..
Good luck man I'm keeping an eye on DCOAB  :)

Thanks!  You can get decent carpet sets for about $150-180 from
several suppliers that will duplicate the molded hump and the original
type pile, there are several who advertise regularly on eBay. Probably
less expensive than SMS and OAI.  Let me know if you need contact
info. cheers!
