site revamp... not?
« on: October 02, 2009, 06:53:01 AM »

Possible site revamp and update was mentioned...  that might be
considered carefully - at least on this site, my cranky 7 year old
'pooter (I'm cheap, except for car schtuff ) up and downloads quick and
clean with no problems, unlike many other sites I visit, including that
other fin one...do we need more gimcracks, bellls & whistles? it
works pretty well now,  and in view of the KISS principle, if it
ain't broken.... or are there issues we're not aware of?

It's a server upgrade only

Once the transition is made, you won't see any changes.  There are periodic software updates done which you never see.

This is an upgrade that MUST be done, or we'll loose the site for a couple of days.  Except for a few short intruptions, the transition will be seemless.  I will have to shut down the forum for a short time to transfer the database to the new server.  I was hoping to get this done this weekend, maybe Sunday

One thing I really like, besides ease of use, is the black background
on the Forum pages... easy on these ol' eyes... could the same be done
for the glaringly bright Home pages? At least tone it down
some...?

No - I just mean the main page when you first go to www.Moparfins.com ,
the one with the 50s girl in the dress next to the car exactly like
mine...  Not that I know anything about websites or web
programming, but I just figured you pick a different background color
or something... glare bothers me more these days, must be old age.

I log straight in to the Forum.  There's a main page?

:-)

Seriously, though, I do log straight here.
